A Long Walk Back To Eden 1996 This painting depicts a Dakota Sioux, face forward, slightly downcast. He holds a young Eagle chick in his arms, bound by his own hair. The figure has small parrot feathers in is hair, tied by small thongs. This was meant to convey the brilliance of the bird to the man. His earrings are very old German polychrome beads, and-painted and considered very rare and valuable. He is wrapped by a trade-blanket which has a beaded blanket strip around the back. The necklaces are self-explanatory, common to this tribe, as are the white striped facial paint ( white clay mixed with boiled fat ).
