Photos to Paintings
I started with a Kodak box camera my dad gave me when I was 6. I took photos of the family, friends, travels, events, people for decades. Then a good friend and painter herself introduced me to Plein Air painting. It is so freeing, loose, fun. My bag of 4 oil tubes has become a large rainbow to choose from. My mentor and friend Richard Alan Nichols has guided me from flowing strokes to looking closer and choosing colors that give the painting more depth, emotion and color. It has been so much fun to do something different and creative in another direction. Precise is a photograph, flow with fun is a painting.
