Peggy Trigg was born in Santa Fe and raised on cattle ranches outside the old mining towns of Cerrillos and Madrid in New Mexico. Her first home was the Palace Hotel in downtown Cerrillos. As a youth, she spent most of her time taking care of livestock, riding horses and tending to the chores common to ranch life. Her love for the country is evident in the expressive quality of her plein air work. “I love to try to capture the spirit, or the energy of the place. An exact representation is not my goal. The essence of the land is what I strive for.â€
This past couple years her work was purchased by Albuquerque Sister City Foundation and was presented to Sasebo Japan for their 50th anniversary present. Her work can also be seen at Albuquerque City Hall, Highland Theater and Lowell Elementary, all in Albuquerque. Her work can also be seen at the Socorro County Chambers building in Socorro, NM. Look for more of her artwork to be placed in 2017!
In the Plein Air movement, Peggy recently received the Artistic Excellence Award at the Escalante Plein Air Festival and was the featured artist in an editorial “Why This Works†in “Outdoor Painterâ€, 2016 September on-line issue.
